Easter! Which also means spring is here - or at least it should be. I love the colors that start to come back, and all the colors that go with Easter :)
I have recently started playing with stamps, and seeing what I can do with them. And although adding stamping to my hobby could be quite pricey, I have discovered some stamps that are ~$1 a set, and when you get them on clearance at Joann's Fabric can rock the 25 cent bin. So I am starting small, and seeing where it all goes.
So I have been trying out this ink called Versamark. Its watermarking/powder embossing ink. What that means is its clear, but makes the paper look 'wet' making, and also has a little bit of tackiness for powder to stick to - or chalk. If you are really curious, here is what it looks like when you use it (this is actually the tutorial I used to get my ideas)

So playing around, I used the versamark and chalk to make some accent, and layered my stamp to make my embossed image. You can see here how I stamped using an ink pen to just get some basic shapes to color in. After coloring with colored pencils, I just stamped the whole image with the versamark, lining up the stamp (The are clear stamps that stick to an acrylic block) with the base image and embossing with black.
I added a few final touches to finish it off. Then I realized I loved how it turned out, so I repeated a few more times so I could send one to several people we love but could not share the holiday with in person.
Happy Easter, and Happy Spring!!!
