I will always love new tools, or more precisely, I will always love tools. New just means I get to add to what I can accomplish. My sweet husband knows me so well that he got me a table saw for my birthday last December. He spent all morning getting it put together so I would see it when I walked in the door after work. That was right before Christmas, and although I have used it a handful of times, I am finally getting to know it by working on a project for my best friend and her man.
Pour over coffee is just another way to get your perfect brew. A brew bar makes this even more perfect by giving you a sturdy surface to set the dripper cup/funnel thing, and lets face it, they are just cool.
So we started with a design, resized it a little after seeing how it would fit together and I got going on some construction. This was original plan, the dimensions were mostly thrown out the window, but the general plan is there.
But why not get some accessories for my sweet table saw? I didn't have an answer for that either, so I got a set of dado blades (they cut a wide groove or slot into your project piece) to make this a little easier and also because I will need them for the next project I have in mind. ;)
Anyway, I started by cutting the top and the lower shelf to the right size, and cut 4 legs. Then I used the dado to cut grooves in all the legs. To make the leg sit inside the shelf, I also cut a notch for the leg to slide into the shelf.

Well, I'm still getting the hang of the table saw and the dado blades, new things come with a learning curve... so I had do fill a little gap. If you notice the groove seems uneven, its because I couldn't do the full width because the table saw insert with a wide enough gap has not come yet, and I didn't want to wait.
But overall I am pleased with the basic construction. Still yet to complete: Cut the holes in the top for the delightful caffeine to flow through the dripper thing to the cup, sanding, maybe some routing, and generally attaching things together and finishing.
