Oh the things you can do with time off! My work was giving us Good Friday off and I decided to take Thursday as well to just make a mini stay-cation (my favorite kind of vacation there is). Some times I tackle projects, sometimes I just relax a bit, and I always just do what I want!
Thurday was planned around our home energy assessment and my getting a massage. I like massages, but only once in a blue moon. It was mostly a relaxing day.
Friday, I started an organizing project... all our old manuals and receipts. We have been good about keeping things, but up to this point, it meant throwing it in the bottom of a closet. This project has been on my list for the last 3 years. Yes, I am that on top of things.

I found so many papers to things we didn't even have anymore. Several hours later I had 3 binders with sleeves, each containing the manual/receipt/related material of individual things. I split it into one binder that will eventually stay with the house (siding, major appliances, etc) and one for all our stuff (tools, furniture, etc) but it had to be split into 2 for now because I didn't have a bigger binder, but thats an easy fix for later. It felt good to cross that one off.
Then we moved onto another project. Take all these cords, and hide what we can in the wall. Well, mainly just hide what runs up to the tv. I love technology - I hate wires. I still dont see why we are not at a point where everything can be wireless...
Simple enough. Cut 2 holes, feed wires through...
Not sure if I have mentioned - I really love my Dremel. But here is where the project ends. I drilled a hole and hit wood. Oh well, there is a stud, I will just drill a little farther over... and I hit wood again. Since we have a split level, we looked on the other side, up in the ceiling in the basement and found this.
That, my friends, is a giant wood plank running across the entirety of the space we could cut through behind the tv. Since are not going to cut through that to hide our cords, we still have cords hanging down the wall... We are looking into other options, either something to cover the cords, or maybe I will go a little crazy and build an entertainment center to go around the tv and store all the movies in. I will just add that building project to my list, its likely to be another 3 years before I get it crossed off. We might just have to go with option 1 for now :)
On Saturday I got to spend some time with my best friend, Meisha. We decided to do a workout on the TV. Working out is so much better when you have someone else to do it with. We spent all afternoon making cards in the craft room and chatting and just having a great time. Its so much fun just getting to be silly with my best friend!
I need to show off Meisha's handy work. She creates such beautiful things! I got one card accomplished, but I mostly played around with a few ideas I had for another card.
That night John and I made enchiladas, but it didnt stop there. I like to make extra food and freeze it for later when we have the time. So instead of one pan full (6 enchiladas, which will feed us for 3 meals on its own) we tripled it to make 3 extra containers of 4 enchiladas each. Long story short, it looked like we were feeding an army :)
Sunday was the Easter service, and then we had Meisha and Leif over that evening for a traditional Easter meal. I did spend some time working on another project, but that will come in another post soon. My long weekend went so fast, but it was much needed!
